Hoppy Trout Brewing Company is a brewpub located in Andrews, NC. We opened New Year’s Day of 2016, so we were literally the first brewery to open in NC in 2016. All our beer is brewed on premise which we sell in our pub with some self distribution in immediate area. We brew 1 BBL(barrel) batches at a time, 31 gallons, which classifies us as a nano brewery. We also offer a full-service pizza restaurant featuring a handmade Sicilian style brick oven.

The small batch approach to beer production allows us to take risks with flavors. We are constantly rotating our tap list with new experimental beers as well as maintaining a few flagships we try to always keep on tap. There is nothing we won’t put in beer. We have used the hottest peppers in the world, Himalayan sea salt, and even cake batter. We do our best to source local ingredients when available. We give a local farmer all our spent grain to feed his pigs.

Before we packed up and left our home in New York, we had been head chefs at two of the highest-rated restaurants in the Hamptons on the eastern end of Long Island, Robert’s in Watermill and World Pie in Bridgehampton.  Yet, all the while that we were running our respective kitchens, we kept a small fire burning for the dream of opening our own idea of a great restaurant someday.  Our plan was to find the most promising, picturesque town in the country, where the people were varied, smart, good-looking, and hungry for the kind of genuine culinary thing we do.

Maggie B’s sells wine, beer, meats, cheeses, wine accessories, and a little of everything else.  Sandwiches, salads, soup, and small plates are offered daily.  They also offer a great selection of wine and beer by the glass.  We carry wines from smaller vineyards that you are not going to find at the grocery store. The wines are from all over the world: South Africa, Argentina, France, New Zealand, and more. You will also find a wide selection of organic wines, which can be beneficial for people who have problems with the preservatives in wine.

It feels these days that we are in a constant state of hurry. Almost every facet of our culture has an expedited version of it. We can buy shoes online and they arrive next day. Download a book instantaneously. Bills can be viewed and paid (or ignored) with the click of a button. Order a cheeseburger from a person on the other side of a machine and it’s ready in under two minutes (if the line is short enough). There are few aspects of our lives that have been untouched by this ever-present supply of immediate gratification.

So it is no great mystery that BBQ, the ritual of cooking with fire and smoke, is such a highly sought-after prize. It is the driving source of endless competitions, timeless arguments over what is right and what is wrong, and innumerable quests to find the “very best version.” It is a simple matter, putting a metal box or grate over some fire and letting smoke do its work. But there is more to bbq than just cooking meat. Wherever one finds it, behind that pulled pork, sliced brisket, and blistered sausages is a preparation that requires time, patience, and a tremendous amount of love. BBQ is untouched by the hurry of the world. Since the discovery of fire from our ancestors on down, very little has been touched and, as is the case with the best of it, the tradition has not been touched at all. What was once necessity has become the ultimate luxury. One can sit down at a bar or outside a shack or in their very own homes and enjoy a feast that took half a day to cook, a week to prepare, and a millennium to perfect.

Combining fire and smoke with the very best ingredients the vast American landscape has to offer is time well spent. We believe that true hospitality begins with inviting strangers to sit around a fire, true cooking requires love, and the truest and very best things in life are still worth waiting for.

Chef and owner Mark Henegan has been in the restaurant industry for over 30 years. From his time at Il Buco in New York City he went on to open Madiba in Brooklyn in 1999 and then Madiba at MIST in Harlem in 2014. A restaurant inside a house?  Yes! We are located inside a charming old house that was built in 1904. We have kept everything original to the house as much as possible, which means our space is very unique and smaller than most restaurants you’ve probably been to – our kitchen is smaller than most residential kitchens! With such limited space, we run things a bit differently to be sure that you have a great time here! We are counter-service with waitstaff, so you order and pay at the counter BEFORE finding a table where we will serve you! Having everyone order and pay first means that our limited number of tables are not held up waiting for orders to be taken or checks to be brought out, so even if we are very busy, there WILL be a table available by the time you have ordered. Operating this way, it is very rare that we should ever have to wait for a table to open. For this reason we ask that you please do not reserve tables while the rest of your party is in line.

People love brunch. People love bakeries. So we did both. Located in the picturesque town of Black Mountain, NC. Open Oven Brunch and Bakery is serving up food made right. Benedicts topped with white wine rosemary hollandaise on homemade sourdough English muffins to sandwiches served on Artisan bread with a side of house cut fries. We do our best to provide antibiotic and hormone free meats, wild caught seafood, and baked goods using whole grain  flour. Our parents were born and raised in Cuba and unfortunately had to flee their beautiful homeland in 1960 when Castro’s communist regime came into power. They instilled in us their love for their Cuban culture and all that it encompassed–food, music, history, family.

​As cousins, we grew up together in Miami, Florida enjoying our Cuban heritage. Destiny brought us all to North Carolina along with our desire to share this delicious and deeply loved cuisine with you. We are using family recipes that have been passed down through many generations.

​The Café is more than a business to us–it is a tribute to our family members that cherished their Cuban culture and taught us what family & love is all about.

Black Mountain Golf Course is located at the foot of the beautiful Black Mountain Range in Western North Carolina. The 6,215yd par 71 course has a front nine originally designed by Donald Ross and is home to the famous 747yd, par 6 17th hole, at one time the longest hole in the world.

Black Mountain Golf Course is a unique, fun and down to earth golfing experience. Established back in 1929, the course is surrounded by some of North Carolina’s most spectacular mountain views. The course is located in the heart of historic Black Mountain just seventeen miles east of Asheville. Check in at the pro shop, warm up your short game on the practice green, and enjoy a break at the turn or after the round at the Green Tee Grille.

Back in September of 2006, Ole & Elena Delatorre along with their 3 sons, Abraham, Alfredo and Daniel started renovating and old building that would become the family business. After 5 months of hard work it opened its doors to the public and was successful from day one. Thanks to the people of Black Mountain and all the visitors the business grew and expanded to a larger location in the same vicinity. Hard work, team work and dedication paid off.
